THERAPEUTIC BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS (TBM/Elementary)
PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The TBM program for Elementary Schools provides invaluable tools for tackling common classroom issues, fostering a conducive learning environment, and promoting the physical and emotional well-being of students. This hands-on, in-person course covers crisis prevention and verbal intervention skills suitable for today's safety-conscious elementary schools.

CORE CONTENT

Aligned with widely used Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) strategies, our TBM program rests on using both relationships and rules to manage misbehavior and deterring emotional crises. The training offers essential information about childhood trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), which can influence students' behavior and their ability to learn in school.

OPTIONAL PHYSICAL SKILLS

While TBM mainly centers around verbal intervention, we also offer an optional second day of training on suitable physical interventions, including holds and escorts for participants in charge of behavioral or security management.

THERAPEUTIC BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT FOR MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOLS (TBM/Middle/High)
PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Addressing the unique challenges faced by middle and high school teachers, the Therapeutic Behavior Management (TBM) course for Middle/High Schools gives educators and administrators vital crisis prevention skills. Completion of this comprehensive training program is between 6–7 hours. TBM/Middle/High School is specifically designed for staff working with grades 6-12. 

CORE CONTENT

The key to successful behavior management lies in balancing rules with relationships. Our TBM/Middle/High program places a strong emphasis on how to establish this balance. Trainees are also taught how to:

  • make proper decisions during times of crisis

  • how to use consequences wisely

  • understand the roots and effects of childhood trauma

  • de-escalate emotionally charged situations

  • improve adult self-awareness

OPTIONAL PHYSICAL SKILLS

An optional second day of training offers additional training for safe but assertive physical holds and escorts. This second day is aimed primarily at administrators and behavioral/security staff.

THERAPEUTIC BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT FOR FOSTER & GROUP HOMES (TBM/Foster Care Virtual)
PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Navigating the world of foster care and group homes can be challenging, but with the right skill set, it can become a rewarding journey. The TBM/Foster Care program is an online training program designed to give foster parents, caregivers, and staff effective behavior management tools. With an easy-to-follow, practical 8-hour course, learners can gain knowledge and skills from the comfort of their own homes.

CORE CONTENT

This program enables foster parents and caregivers to differentiate between deliberate misbehavior and emotional crisis. It shows them how to respond effectively to each type of behavior, creating a healthier, more stable environment for the children in their care. Portions of this course will cover:

Since a majority of youth in foster care have experienced childhood trauma, TBM/Foster Care helps parents more fully understand the impact of trauma on their children's emotions, behavior, and response to stress. This is vital in order to nurture their healing and progression.

UNDERSTANDING TRAUMA
STAYING CALM

Maintaining a calm demeanor can be difficult when interventions take place in a home setting, where professional distance might be hard to sustain. The TBM/Foster Care program gives foster care providers valuable insights into adult anger traps, power struggles, and strategies to stay calm.

VIRTUAL FORMAT

The virtual nature of this program allows individuals to complete the course at a pace that suits them, making it a highly flexible learning solution. Note that this program focuses on verbal strategies only. 

AN INTRODUCTION TO RESTORATIVE PRACTICES
PROGRAM OVERVIEW

An Introduction to Restorative Practices is a two-day virtual program that offers an insight into the foundational theory and practices of restorative communication. This introductory online training is best suited to individuals looking to actively engage in their communities. The practices learned lay the groundwork for developing safer, more connected communities, thus greatly enhancing communication and understanding.

CORE CONTENT

The course offers a comprehensive introduction to the principles and process of Restorative Practice. It sets the stage for creating a positive climate conducive to collaboration, resolving conflicts, and repairing harm.

ENHANCE COMMUNICATION

A major goal of the program is to focus on making connections and enhancing communication skills for repairing harm and building safe spaces. The course also covers a spectrum of restorative practices meant to effectively reintegrate students when addressing situations where harm has been done.

IMMEDIATE APPLICATION

What sets our program apart is the immediate applicability. As soon as you complete the Introduction to Restorative Practices training, you will be able to use the strategies learned in various settings such as schools, workplaces, families, and community programs.

Our Restorative Practices for Educators is a transformative two-day virtual program aimed at creating positive educational settings. Tailored for teachers, administrators, and other school staff members, this essential training is carried out by experienced restorative practices trainers.

CORE CONTENT 

This introductory program seeks to teach educators the fundamental theories and practices needed for engaging with students, parents, and other staff in the school setting. It addresses how to provide direct feedback and ask questions that foster accountability. The training then converges towards resolving common conflicts, emphasizing restorative strategies that enable high-level functioning in an educational institution.

CIRCLES FACILITATION

You will also master the art of facilitating circles, an integral strategy for creating a positive learning environment and school culture. Circles have been proven to be useful for resolving social problems, building social capital, and providing suitable responses when harm happens.

TEACHING VIRTUALLY

Our instructors will address issues that come with an online learning environment, and teach how to build relationships and communities while teaching in an online setting. Concepts covered include the effective use of breakout rooms, whiteboards, chat rooms, and how to run engaging one-on-one conversations and group activities.

ENGAGING RESOURCES

Prior to the live Zoom sessions, participants will have access to readings, handouts, videos, and other resources designed to enrich the learning experience. This prepares participants for the synchronous instruction, and ensures all learners are given the best possible head start.

Our Positive Discipline Bootcamp, developed by Dr. Jane Nelsen, was designed to teach parents how to properly discipline their children. This program empowers parents to confidently address behavioral challenges by using parenting strategies that are kind, respectful, and effective in the long-term.

The Positive Discipline Course, created by Dr. Jane Nelsen, is designed to promote and foster a supportive home environment based on mutual respect. The course aims to educate parents to use positive discipline to aid their child’s growth into a happy, responsible adult.

The purpose of positive discipline is to teach children rules, values, and behavior in a constructive, non-punitive way, and helps in developing self-discipline. Through engaging discussions and insightful experiential activities, course participants learn how to:

Meanings behind behaviors are not always straightforward. This course helps you decipher what your child is trying to communicate and aids you in responding effectively.

Learn to identify common parenting pitfalls and what actions to adopt instead.

Positive Discipline Parenting

ADULT & PEDIATRIC FIRST AID/CPR/AED COURSE
PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Our Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course delivers top-tier, comprehensive training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for use on adults, children, and infants. Our course is ideal for those who require a certification to meet OSHA workplace or other regulatory requirements. 

CORE CONTENT

Our participants gain the ability to recognize and address various first aid breathing and cardiac emergencies. Comprehensive understanding and practical application of First Aid, CPR, and Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for both adults and pediatric cases is at the core of this training program.

CERTIFICATION

The successful completion of the course rewards participants with a two-year digital certification in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED from the American Red Cross. The digital certificate provides easy anytime, anywhere access to your training history and course certificates, allowing for effortless verification through its unique ID and QR code. 

BLENDED LEARNING

Our course utilizes a blended learning format, providing a seamless combination of online training followed by an in-person or virtual skills session led by our experienced instructors. You can start the online portion as soon as you enroll, equipping you with the flexibility to learn and build knowledge at your own pace.

BABYSITTING COURSE 
PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Our Babysitting Course provides youth aged 11 to 15 with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly provide care for children and infants. Students will receive essential leadership training, how to develop a babysitting business, the skills to keep themselves and others safe, and to help children behave appropriately. Basic child care and first aid skills will also be taught.

CORE CONTENT

Course participants will acquire a wealth of practical insights on child care, from learning how to spoon- and bottle-feed infants and how to diaper infants and toddlers, through to handling emergency situations effectively. By using role play and hands-on activities, learners will understand how to manage and react to different behavior, emergencies, and routines.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Leadership skills are not just helpful in babysitting, but can be applied throughout one’s whole life. With a sharp focus on developing leadership skills, we guide learners in understanding respect, communication, motivation, taking action and decision-making – all valuable skills that can be applied in nearly all aspects of life.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE

Learners will also come to grips with basic first aid measures, along with safety essentials around a home environment. They will learn how to recognize an emergency, apply emergency action steps, and distinguish between life-threatening and non-life-threatening emergencies.

CERTIFICATION

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Babysitting Course attendance certificate. There's no validity period attached to it, serving as a lifetime achievement that underscores their babysitting proficiency. In order to get the certification, the student will have to attend all classes, participate in all skills sessions and activities, as well as demonstrate competency in all observable skills.
